We want you, the user, to give as much input as possible in the adding of a charity to RaceForLife.com. We know that the success of our giving is based completely on who and what you want to receive donations. We welcome the addition of any and all charities for voting, with a few guidelines:
- We would like the organization to be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Which means it is eligible to receive contributions deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes.
- Since there is no "official" rating system for charities, we generally use the BBB's 20 standards for Charity Accountability. You can do a search and see if the charity you would like added complies with the 20 standards. While not the "final word" - we heavily weight this when considering to add the charity you request.
- We prefer no duplicate charities. This includes regional off-shoots of national charities. The money normally flows down right? However, submissions will be reviewed on a case by case basis and exceptions can be made if a regional charter has a substantially differing mission and/or purpose.
- Please provide a short story or reason that you would like to add the charity. We prefer to add charities that have personally affected our users.
- After we add the charity, make sure to email your friends and relatives, inform the charity, put it in your newsletter, etc. Make your add worth it!
Please provide as much information as possible. Not all fields are required, but the more information we have, the better! Use the "Comments/Story" section for anything you would like us to know.
